Members offered creative alternatives to plain water for staying hydrated with diabetes, with diet or zero-sugar sodas, Zevia (a stevia-sweetened option), and infused or flavored waters being the most popular suggestions. Several members shared practical tips like mixing sugar-free drink powders into bottled water, adding lemon juice or fruit cordial to plain water, or trying Hint Water for a treat that feels indulgent without adding carbs or calories. A recurring theme was that while artificial sweeteners like aspartame remain a concern for some, zero-sugar drinks are generally safe for blood sugar management, and finding what works for your taste buds is key to staying hydrated.

I can’t imagine not drinking water! It’s pretty much all I drink. I on rare occasions have a zevia grapefruit soda. I do like infused water. As a treat I have a hint water which is water infused with fruit. Zero carbs zero cals but tastes like your cheating. Apple, cherry, and raspberry peach are my faves. They have tons of flavors to choose from. You can infuse your own too.

Any of the "diet" or "zero" versions of Soda (Pop if you are a Canuck) have zero sugar/zero carbs

Now there is a number of mostly unproven concerns about the artificial sweeteners used but as far as Diabetes is concerned, they won't move your blood sugar and fluids are fluids, so they are excellent for "blood sugar friendly hydration" and many of the new sweeteners do not have a nasty after taste
