Does Metformin increase urination ?

So something is odd or maybe circumstance. I started Metformin 250 mg yesterday, for next 4 days I am to take 250 mg once a day, then up it up to 250 mg twice a day. But since yesterday evening I have been going to washroom to urinate slightly more often, but also the quantity I urinate is more then my usual. But yeah the gas and cramps yesterday were surprising as I just took 1 dose. I know from the past in 2019 when I had Metformin I got bad diarrhea and urinated more, but not on 1st dose… read more

Well the stomach cramps, flatulence, gas are a lot less, the urinating more often has stopped also. I did sleep 5 hrs straight last night without codeine but I have been sitting on ice the last 2 nights 1 hr before going to bed and it helps. I do urinate bigger quantities, but on a good note I have no more leg swelling not even late evenings, so it might be a bonus urinating more and less often. My shoes are so loose now I am amazed. Tomorrow I will begin the 250 mg twice a day. I am feeling better today, probably because I slept last night. My FBS this morning was 7.3 (131) finger prick, but my numbers are more stable, less hikes and fluctuations throughout the day. Also I wt myself today and I am now down to 251.2 lbs (was 260.2 lbs on March 31st) = 9 lbs wt loss, it is slow but stable sometimes losing only 0.2 lbs every day or 2nd day. Which is probably better this way, slow but stable.

I have been on it for 2 years 1/2 a pill in the morning 1/2 in the afternoon and it doesn’t affect me
