Diabetes occurred as far back as about 3,000 years ago. Ancient Egyptians probably sensed the smell of blood sugar in the urine. The ancient Greeks gave the disease it's name. Centuries later, Indian physicians were able to research deeper into the disease and diagnose different types of diabetes.
