Insulin has 2 jobs.
1) Convert carbs to energy for daily use.
2) Store excess carbs as fat for future use.

Managing weight while on insulin can be challenging because diabetes medications are vital for blood sugar control and shouldn't be stopped. However, there are ways to help manage weight while on insulin therapy. Working with a registered dietitian who specializes in diabetes can be very helpful. They can help create personalized meal plans and strategies to manage both blood sugar and weight. Even a modest 5 percent weight loss can improve blood sugar management.
Regular physical activity (aim for 150 minutes per week) combined with healthy eating habits can help offset potential weight gain from insulin. Reading nutrition labels to choose foods lower in refined sugars, saturated fats, and salt can also support weight management goals.
