I try to swap snacks. Dried fruit, nuts, granola and sugar free puddings and jello desserts

If you are already following a Diet that is Sugar Safe for You then you "know" what you can eat, what you have to severely cut back on portion size if you want any and what you absolutely shouldn't eat

Why would that be different if not eating at home?

You should already know that Fat and Proteins don't effect you

You should already know that the less starchy veggies don't hurt you

Or you could simply make the decision to Not Follow Your Diet for that one meal

If you have been otherwise well controlled for the past few months - if your A1C starts with a 5.something or lower 6.something, then a "day off" is not going to send you to your grave

But you do need to pick your "cheat days" wisely and if you are still struggling for control then a day off could be dangerous
