One solution is to have those fruit flavored glucose tablets from walgreens. ONE tablet should fix you up (about 3.75 g of glucose). One tablet is about the equivalent to the total amount of glucose in the blood of a non-diabetic person. I won't bore you with the calculation. Ok, maybe I will. let's pick a normal blood glucose of 83 mg/dl. dl is a deciliter, one tenth of a liter of blood. so, 83 mg/dl x 10 dl/liter = 830 milligrams of glucose in one liter of blood. Then, with an average blood volume of 4.5 liters, that's 830 milligrams/liter x 4.5 liters which is about 3,735 mg of glucose in the blood stream..Divide that by 1000 to get 3.75 grams of glucose in the blood stream, the same as the amount in one of those glucose tablets. One of those tablets should fix you up, or maybe even just one-half of those tablets. Orange juice has way too much sugar, and the bad stuff, fructose. And, for those with kidney stone problems, oj has a lot of oxalate in it to watch out for. I let the tablet dissolve in my mouth, and then have to remember to brush my teeth soon.
If Iβm home, I drink some orange juice.
Glucose tablets have been a lifesaver for me sometimes.
I carry glucose tablets, they don't cause huge spikes.
Two tablespoons of raw honey.
