Members overwhelmingly agreed that staying hydrated is the most critical strategy for managing diabetes in the heat, with many emphasizing the need to drink water frequently throughout the day and some suggesting adding a pinch of salt or using electrolyte drinks to maintain proper hydration levels. Several members shared practical cooling methods that have helped them, including neck fans, staying indoors during peak heat, wearing white cotton clothing, using cold packs, and testing blood sugar more frequently since heat can cause levels to spike or drop unpredictably. A recurring theme was the importance of listening to your body, limiting outdoor activities when possible, and being extra cautious since people with diabetes are more sensitive to extreme temperatures and can dehydrate or overheat much faster than others.

I just bought one of the neck fans an it has helped me with the heat. It’s 107 right now and I won’t go outside until morning.

I drink lots and lots and lots of water. I also check blood sugar more frequently - after exercise and after prolonged exposure to the outdoors.

It also Depends entirely as to what you are doing in the HEAT 🔥... If walking use an umbrella ☔ and ALWAYS take a 1ltr bottle of water 💦 with you. Every 10 mins drink. Any place will fill it up for free if you ask nicely.
If you are exercising in the heat 🔥 that's when other drinking methods are required. You will sweat profusely and as we sweat 😰 we lose our bodies electrolytes (Salts).. If these are not replaced then extra stress on all of your bodily organs begin to suffer. Eventually you will cramp. To prevent this always use REHYDRATION TABLETS IN YOUR DRINKS.. You can get them easily off Amazon etc. ALWAYS do a WARM DOWN 10 mins before finishing.. A large cold towel over your back and once you've stopped sweating a cold shower. Hope this helps
