It is possible but it would be incredibly rare
The US Institute of Health only notes one "probable" case in the UK of an "allergic" reaction that caused anaphylaxis
(the patient declined a biopsy to confirm metformin was the actual cause which is why it's listed as "probable")
All of the "noted" side effects of Metformin are GI (tummy) related and that is most often cited in those who can't tolerate it

It's me again @A DiabetesTeam Member. Pls. don't stop taking your Metformin until you see your health care provider. We are all different, it could be something different going on with you. I know you've got this. Hugs
Hi @A DiabetesTeam Member. If it's causing a rash, sounds like an allergic reaction. I'm no Dr. but may need medical attention. Metformin shouldn't cause that. I was on it for a while, never had that problem. 🤗
If your kidneys are not ok Metformin can cause lactic acidosis but never heard of it being implicated in rashes,
