Does caffenated coffee spike blood sugar? If so, should you limit the intake of coffee?
It isn't the coffee that is a problem, it's what you add to it. Sweeteners, sugar, milk
Yes caffeine MIGHT spike your blood sugar.200mg of caffeine ......like everything else about diabetes it varies, each of us will be different. If you check your levels and no spike then it's ok to drink coffee.
I have not had a problem with coffee. I use nut pods, a zero sugar creamer. Just like everything with diabetes it is different for everyone.
I have a friend who has had Diabetes for decades, and she drinks lots of coffee everyday, but she drinks it black...then drinks water in between. I have read reports that if you drink Dark Ground coffee..Black..helps with Diabetes. Coffee is also a Diuretic, so it might reduce your sugar by eliminating it.
I find I don’t have the caffeine jolt some people have. I could drink it before bed if I wanted and still sleep but I don’t. I drink it because I enjoy the taste. Nothing like a cup of fresh coffee made from fresh ground beans. I’m somewhat of a coffee snob. I like my coffee from fresh ground beans.
