Sure, there is potential side effects to the new drugs and most of them have been around for barely 5 or 10 years so nobody knows if they will cause some side effect if you take them for a while

BUT you can't forget

Uncontrolled Diabetes is 100% DEADLY

It's not like you have a choice if you NEED the meds

If the only choice is Take the Meds and "maybe" have a side effect or Don't Take the Meds and develop kidney disease, blindness, possibly have limbs amputated and die 15 or 20 years before your time due to stroke or heart failure, a few side effects don't sound too bad

Of course you could always opt for Insulin

Everyone seems petrified of ever having to use it. But really, any of the Human Recumbent Insulins on the market are 99.8% identical to your "own insulin" - no side effects, so for anyone worried about Ozempic or Jardiance or any of the others always has the choice of the best and closest to biologically natural treatment available

You just have inject it a couple or more times a day and most see that as something to be avoided at all cost - but it works the best of all possible treatments putting into your system "exactly" what you are unable to produce yourself...

I’ve been on Ozempic since the end of July. I’ve had no major side effects. Occasional nausea, but rare. It has been very constipating for me. I need to remember to drink lots of water & I take a stool softener & restoralx regularly. I started at 0.25 mg , working my way up to 0.5 mg. My doctor won’t put me up any higher because my blood sugar will go way to low. Overall this has been a great tool in managing my diabetes. It turns off the hunger voice in my head & my A1C has come down to 6.1 . I lost 45lbs on my own, then a further 23lbs so far with Ozempic. I seem to be plateauing now. I watched what I eat & exercised before Ozempic, & continue now. The medication has helped me, but it’s not a miracle, you still have to put the work in. Hope this helps. 💚😊

I am on insulin and ozempic. No side effects, thank God. I have been able to bring my sugars to a steady level, my weight came down and I have been slowly reducing my insulin units. Hopefully in maybe 1 year or so I maybe able to come off my insulin. However I was put on it because my pills had stopped working for me.

@A DiabetesTeam Member; that sounds like my story too. I was on Victoza for 11 years until it was no loner covered. Lost 50 on my own and with work the last 20 on Ozempic. My A1C's are great and over all health improved. Even at my biggest weight I stayed within 3 lbs of it. If people cant tolerate other meds like what happened to me I would recommend this.
