Is Bariatric Surgery A Solution To Diabetes Remission?
A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

I will start with a popular myth that I see more and more on the internet from (supposedly) medical professionals

I'm sure we have all heard at least once from some "authority" that being overweight is not as simple as eating too much

If that was TRUE then Bariatric Surgery would not work

The only thing it does is stop you from eating too much by restricting how much food you can actually put in your system - so lets at least be honest.

Body Fat does not come from outer space and you don't… read more

Hi GrahamLamb...I have seen this question before ( in a different way ). I have 2 answers for this question. You're correct this is not the solution, but we are all different and everything works differently for everyone.
My daughter was 360 pounds at one time in her life, she has the gastric bypass surgery...lost all of the pounds that she wanted to; that was years ago. She was diabetic too. Every 3 to 6 months she have blood work; and Shazam! Ever since she is not diabetic anymore, but lots of things started coming out or maybe is as we get older we start getting different things in our bodies.
Now I had the gastric sleeve surgery, so my stomach is like a banana and eat like a bird. I'm still diabetic but have lots of other diseases so I have like 4 different diets...so either I follow through or don't eat at all, specially with diabetes, chronic kidney disease, high potassium and much, much more.
This is not a solution to diabetes. Don't think that because it worked on my daughter, it should of had worked on me... πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜‚, It doesn't work out that way! Everyone is different. Have a blessed day everyone πŸ™.

I had one Friend of mine that had that surgery. And it was like she didn't have diabetes anymore. Cause all her readings were perfect. But as time went on, things started to change and she ended up. Not living too long. She barely passed away a couple of months from diabetes complications. Her kidneys were failing her. So I don't know the whole story. Because she kept me from seeing her. She was a good close personal friend of mine. But she didn't want me to see her and she never told me. What was exactly wrong other than it was? Diabetic complications and her kidneys were failing and I guess they'd finally did man do I miss her?.. So I guess the surgery worked for a while where she was getting. Perfect readings but like I said as' time went on. I don't know if she changed her diet or if she kept taking her meds. I don't know because she fell out of contact with me.☹️

The solution is a total change of mind - the surgery is a temporary solution. Only my drop of a pennyπŸ™πŸΌ
