I was about to question what your doctor stated when I noted from your information that you are Type 1
In that case, Type 1 which is auto-immune form of Diabetes IS closely related to another auto-immune disorder called Alopecia Areata which does cause hair loss - the same way the immune system attacked your pancreas and took away the ability to produce insulin, in this case it also attacks the hair follicles and causes the hair to fall out at the roots
Just another way that "Diabetes Sucks"
I don't think thinning hair and losing hair has anything to do with diabetes. Your pancreas not working is truly diabetes. I'm sure if you had a sit down with your doctor you will find out that you are at a point where you have to do all you can to deal with it and you won't be able to turn around what you don't want.
And like the doctor said my pancreas is done already 🥺
