Yes, neuropathy can be Dangerous if you do not stop it's progression.
Peripheral neuropathy is caused by cumulative vascular damage that damages and kills nerves. The nerves damaged and dying leads to amputations.
Control your numbers to TITR, time in tight range, 4.0(72) to 7.8(140) and stop the additional cumulative vascular damage. Diabetes complications and comorbidities will be arrested right where they are now.

That depends on how far it progresses
The first stages of neuropathy are not much more than numbness, tingling - irritating but hardly debilitating
At the end stages they are amputating a toe or foot or leg below the knee and it gets worse from there. All the infections cause congestive heart failure.

Getting really serious about blood sugar at the first signs of neuropathy is the best way to slow it down so that you never get too far advanced
