Thank you for answering my question. I am no longer on Metformin (took the regular and then ER), for about 2 years now. This new "issue" is not fun. I am tired of sugar-free ginger ale, cheese and dry low carb toast.

I had chronic diarrhea the 1st 53 yrs of my life and yes I did experience more diarrhea when it got hotter weather. But if you recently started medications such as Metformin it can also be related to this, usually though they would advise people try and wait it out 2 months, as that is the average time your body might take to tolerate Metformin, or it might be dose related. My pharmacist when I was on Metformin had advised me to increase dosage slowly which seamed to work. Then Endo put me on a combination medication which has Metformin and he ended up doubling the dosage to 2000 mg per day and it landed me in ER 1 week later, severely dehydrated, they think it is the combination with the other medication which caused the severe diarrhea. They took me off Metformin because it had been 2 months I was on it and only got worse for me. I eventually was able to stop all diabetic medication after 9 months of being diagnosed diabetic and have been managing for 3 yrs now with diet alone. You can always check with your doctor or pharmacist if it might be related to Metformin dosage and sometimes just lowering the dose might help, or switching over to an extended release form has helped a few people in here. In my case my A1C has been below 6.5 % since May 2020 so no need for diabetic medications, but I am not cured, just in remission and one day I may have to go back on diabetic medications if the disease progresses further. Sometimes diet change alone can help a lot, mostly if within 3 yrs of being diabetic. Some people it is just a question of smaller portions only.
