Hence I hear that metforminis has been canceled in some countries and that it creates problems in someone's body vessel's functioning as the time goes.

I have read articles on metformin effects both good and bad. I have been recently diagnosed as pre-diabetic A1C at 6.4 last Feb 2023. Doctor wanted me to undergo meds and I declined stating it is only 1 test and would like to lower it by diet and exercise. He was pessimistic as it is a lifestyle disease nevertheless he granted me 3 mos. Went back to him last June with my late May numbers. He saw my A1C at 6.1 and he complimented me as only 1 of 5 patients that ever got their numbers down - cholesterol, LDL etc. and HDL up. He agreed no meds, no metformin or other drugs and to see him after 3-6 mths for a check-up. Btw, my weight went down by 21lbs, planning to go down further by 20lbs after 3 months. So at this point, my meds are diet, exercise, change proportions of carbo, veggies and protein food. Take care.

I was using 850mg pills three time a day until it was changed to 500mg two times a day when my sugar levels were controllable.

Recently, my blood sugar levels have been high and struggling to control it. I mentioned to the doctor that I used to take 850mg three times a day with the hope that my doctor will increase the dosage. However, the doctor mentioned that Metfomin interfers with the functioning of the liver hence the reduction in dosage and frequency of taking the pills.

To answer the question, it is effective in lowering the blood sugar levels however ,according to doctors it has unfavorable effects to the functioning of the liver.

Hope I was able to answer your question.

Hi Joelle, I resolved to walk 3 times per week 7-8T steps a day, did yard work 2× per weekend, reduced my rice intake from 3-4 cups a day to 0.5 cup a day, dinner consists of vegetables (cooked or fresh) half of my plate and a meat dish at night. Breakfast and lunch are just sandwiches total 3 total, and water 3-4.5 liters or more a day.

It was difficult at start but became more fruitful as the days and weeks went by. Still need to lose 15-20lbs and Lord willing can do it by Oct 2023. Will see. Thank you for asking. Take care and like Hkc said Baby steps.
