You are hypo if glucose is 4/72.The protocol should be followed until glucose gets back to that level or above.Do not overtreat- you will get a rebound high.At 52/2.9 you are almost at severe hypo,where you may not be able to treat yourself

The hypoglycemic events protocol is:
Take glucose tablets, test again in 15 minutes, more glucose if needed, repeat as necessary.
