I use what I grow but for what I can’t and when I run out of mine, what ever produce I buy I wash. If I can I do buy organic. I eat limited vegetables, beans, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, zucchini, celery, lettuce, spinach, cucumber, spaghetti squash, peppers. Peppers, beans and spaghetti squash l usually have enough to get me through the year, broccoli fresh organic from Aldi’s, or frozen organic from
Costco along with organic cauliflower rice. Our Aldi’s carries more affordable organic produce. I’ve always washed my produce.
I was checking on the internet about washing fruits and vegetables and found baking soda and water, affordable and easy. Go to armandhammer.Com and look for the article “Get cleaner fruit and vegetables with baking soda.”
Never worried much about dirt
Gotta eat a peck before you die ! :). But pesticides are another whold ball of wax. So I wash stuff like a raccoon but try not to think about how much gets into the meat of the fruit!
Cannot afford the organic!
Wow. We wash our fruits and vegetables but I eat a good pound a day of blueberries. Didn't realize they were on the top of the list for pesticides. Good to know. I think I will now stick with organic.
And water of course
I soak fruits and veggies in bicarb for a couple of minutes then rinse off.
