How Do I Eat Ultralow Carb.
A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi all you warriors
I've been controlling my diabetes journey with right eating, portion control, Japanese science and medicine, exercise if your doctors allow, attitude, and a compelling reason to do what is necessary. I sleep 6-7 hours nightly, 8 is better. I do 10-15 minutes self care daily. Baby steps.

I am half Japanese and a recovering rice-aholic, I ate rice 2-3 meals a day my whole life. Now I have 1 tablespoon 2x a month and savor it for the taste and memories, more and the binge… read more

Hi from South Jersey all you warriors and
@A DiabetesTeam Member,
My breakfasts vary very little. All my meals are ultralow carb.

Breakfasts usually,
2 eggs over a bed of spinach or other greens.
1-2 ounces of Ham, pork, chicken, beef.
Some vegetables or diabetes friendly fruit.

Sometimes I will eat a typical midday or evening meal for breakfast.

Sometimes I have 3 ounces of yogurt. Sometimes 2 ounces of kefir. Both are unsweetened, unflavored.

Midday meals,
Often like a breakfast or a dinner.
Sometimes a soup, a stir-fry, a salad, eggs, or some combination of the above.

Evening meals,
Much the same as my lunches.

I try to maximize my carbs while eating to my meter. 5-8 net carbs per meal, only 15-20 net carbs per day. Baby steps.

I target no more than 7.5(135) as my 2 hour number. Baby steps.

I do TITR 4.0(72) to 7.8 (140). That will arrest cumulative vascular damage, right where it is today. So no more progression of diabetes complications and comorbidities. Baby steps.

My true range is a little tighter than TITR.
My numbers usually only vary from 5.7(103) to 7.5(135).
My morning fasting blood glucose numbers are usually 5.9(106) to 6.4(115).

A typical chicken stir fry.

I wish for you more good days than bad and have many exceptional days too.
And never give up, never surrender, never ever.
You got this.
Have a wonderful day.

I love how you fill your plate and also the order you eat your foods. I like to start my meal with a salad or coleslaw and then my cooked veggies and protein.Limiting carbs really does work and stops spikes from happening. Keep up the good work 👍
