Hi @A DiabetesTeam Member and all you warriors,

I don't have dry cracked heels. I wear flip flops all year long, even in the snow. But again, I've been drinking 150 to 250 ounces of water daily for the last 14 years. Good hydration is key for me. That's my not so secret, secret.

But the best I've ever seen in my experience and from others I know is udder cream, udder balm, udder smooth. Udder cream even comes in a formulation specifically for feet. It was originally used for dairy cows when their udders would crack. Now it's hit the mainstream and most everyone I know swears by it.

Our youngest baby girl, our daughter in law, and many others we know, swear by tallow. Really good stuff too. And safe for most everyone. It works best after a shower because it penetrates the skin better when the pores are open. It is a cure all even for many fungal infections over time.

Now if there is an open wound on the hands, many people clean it out then superglue it and tape it up, till they get home and can do something else with it. What you can learn from working in industry.

Now there is also a camping hack for wilderness hiking and camping, that uses superglue for any open wound after cleaning it out. It has natural antibiotic properties and closes the wound and keeps it infection free.

Baby steps.
And never give up, never surrender, never ever.
You got this.
Have a wonderful day.

I use petroleum jelly. I'll put it on my feet then put socks and shoes on. I do this in the day time and nothing at night since i cant sleep with socks on.

Hi Nana, a cream containing urea would be good for your dry, cracked heels. If you have a foot care nurse, you could go to her to use a foot care dremel to thin down the thick skin, trying to get rid of the cracks. Hope your feet feel better soon. 💚
