Cyclocarya Paliurus- Plant Based Anti-diabetic Supplement
A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi. I am Paul Swann from Quezon City, Philippines and new to this site. Still under observation by Cardio on diabetes until June 2023. Have come across a friend who is diabetic and recommended Cyclocarya Paliurus which he has used 2x a day and his bloodworks are good, exercises 4 days a week 7T-8T steps each day and limits his carbo intake. BP and blood sugar are within normal limits. Has anyone checked into this? Would appreciate any input. Thank you.

I suspect what your friend is doing, physical exercise, carb cutting and more has done most of the hard work to control the blood glucose numbers.

The Cyclocarya Paliurus sweet tea has been used in China for years for obesity and diabetes control. They are doing studies on mice, and results are promising for beta cell preservation.

I am intrigued and will have to investigate more fully it's benefits. I suspect that as a supplement to help control your diabetic journey, it has benefits. When we get home from our our Iberian peninsula adventure, i will put it on my to do list.

I control my diabetes journey with Japanese science and medicine, eating to my meter, my blood glucose numbers spreadsheet, and my food journal. Lots of exercise, portion control and more. No diabetes medications at this time.

I wish you more good days than bad and have many exceptional days too. Do baby steps.

And never give up, never surrender, never ever.
You got this.
Have a wonderful day.

Hi Graham, agree with you and Henry that the critical areas are regular exercises, watching the portions eaten, lose the weight, drink and eat healthier. I want to prove to myself and my Cardio that I can control my impending diabetes checkup and have normal readings.

By the way, my friend I daresay is still obese and also started counting carbs but with the Cycloparya P. manages to keep his BS under control though I have encouraged him to still lose weight. Still looking for further materials on this Chinese tradional meds. Thsnk you for your input and have a great weekend ahead. Regards

Agree with Henry on this one - that is hardly a valid observation of the product

If he sat around, ate processed crap - effectively did nothing to help manage blood sugar other than use the product then you could say one way or another that it benefitted the blood sugar and by how much

Supplements and naturals certainly can form "part" of our overall management plan

But care must be taken not to expect too much from them or buy into "some magic cure"

I count my carbs, lost weight and kept it off, and exercise regularly and my A1C has been 5.4/5.5 for over 5 years, my cholesterol and BP are normal and I "didn't" use the product - just saying

Hi Hkc, yes you are correct he does do the exercises, carb cutting, weight control etc. I have also embarked the same so by June 2023, my numbers will be okay without meds except for my BP. For the past 3 weeks, my blood sugar registered 124 in the morning and now past 1.5 weeks hovering between 80-100. Not yet steady though. My friend suggested the chinese med Cyclocarya P. as an adjunct to what I am doing and his sugar is really steady below 90s for the past 3 months. He used to have readings of about 240.

I will also continue checking on this traditional medicine. I would also like to know about the Japanese science and medicines. Thank you for your encouraging words. Praying we get our diabetes always under control. Have a good weekend. Take care. Paul
