Good morning from the Algarve, Southern Portugal all you warriors.

Some news of interest to those with diabetes, some are years away from viability, some are on the horizon.

There are some promising studies being done with stem cells, that seem to repair the pancreas in some cases.

There are isles of langerhans cells being grown in the laboratory setting.

There are pouches being inserted under the skin that are filled with isles of langerhans. Although they must be replenished every few… read more

3.7 is a little low, but only borderline for some.
For me I have full blown hypo symptoms for days even approaching that number.

Type 1s always require insulin. But they require less if carb loading is lower.

Good for you @A DiabetesTeam Member,
Some diabetes gurus from all over the world say low carb is the way to go for both type 1, type 2, and insulin dependent type 2s.

Cutting carbs slowly means that you will be able to cut your insulin loading over time. Calculations of your insulin dosages will be easier over time. Other diabetes medication needs may decrease over time too.

You never know how much easier and less stressful your life might become, just by eating lower net carb. Baby steps.

Good luck to all you warriors out there.
And never give up, never surrender, never ever.
You got this.
Have a wonderful day.

As someone who is significantly insulin resistant I don’t think many of these innovations would be of any help to me.

The non invasive health monitor sounds interesting. However all present bg monitors are to some extent inaccurate so unless this new one is very accurate it would be a waste of money.

I still think the best line of attack is to address the cause - not the symptoms. In my case the cause of my insulin resistant is unclear and that’s why I’m going to buy some blood tests that will show how much insulin is in my body amongst other things.

As diabetes is a syndrome we may never find out what’s really going on and that’s where management comes in as a sound strategy.

@A DiabetesTeam Member hello to you from Maroochydore and I am enjoying my Sunday morning here today and I have tried to stay around 60kg. My doctor advised me not to go below 60kg and he is a Cardiologist and is semi retired and just doing a little General Practice and he keeps an eye on my blood test results and my Chest XRays.

I walked around 7,000 steps on Saturday and it was a lovely sunny day to walk around the Mooloolah River boardwalk near my former suburb Minyama

Hugs from Judyxx
