Yes, have a couple members of a support group I work with taking Jardiance
It works by kinda turning the kidneys into a vacuum so that they suck both sugar and salt out of your blood and pass both in urine
This means that it works, unlike the other drug class options whether or not you are making decent amounts of insulin or have terrible insulin resistance - doesn't care - just sucks out the sugar
So very effective in removing blood sugar and the removal of salt has the effect of potentially lowering blood pressure and reducing the risk of heart attack and stroke and preserving kidney function - so extra bonus protection
The downside is with all that sugar being passed in urine, about 20% of those using it develop Yeast and/or Urinary Tract Infections - if those set in they can be quite chronic and pesky and you would have to stop using it
But it does seem to be either you have the problem or you have no problem at all - haven't heard of a "once in while" kinda thing so if you tolerate it you have a very viable drug
There is about three different name brand drugs in the class that do the same thing (effectively same active ingredients) - the other two are Farxiga and Invokana
Currently there is no generic option (too new - these have only been on the market for about 10 years) so it is expensive (close to 600 bucks a month) which could make it cost prohibitive for some
Thank you very much for your answer.,Very helpful.
