A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question 💭

I test my FBP every morning , I the last 20 days it’s ranging between 140 to 150 even thought there is no change in my diet or medication. Why ?

Thank you Graham ! I’ll check about my other medications… yes some blood thinners and hear related medicines are added after a Stent was inserted about an year ago due to discovery of a passive block in one one of my arteries !

@A DiabetesTeam Member there could be a number of reasons

Fasting Blood Sugar levels are largely driven by hormones but can also be effected by outside/environmental sources

You state your Diabetic Medications have not changed but have you been taking medications for something else "unrelated" - pain medication, steroids etc can jack up your numbers artificially until you stop taking them and they flush from your system

If you had an injury or operation and are "healing" that would likewise jack up your fasting numbers until you are better

Something as simple as your sleep patterns, a bit of "new stress" (worried about something), in a different surrounding etc all can effect what hormones our body releases and the sugar response to the presence of those hormones

Of course there is always one other answer

If absolutely "nothing has changed at all" - zip, zilch, everything "identical" to what it was when your trended lower, then the explanation may simply be "your diabetes has progressed"

But before going with that conclusion all other possible causes that might explain it should be ruled out
