I have three typical breakfasts when I am working and don't have a great deal of time to prepare.

Toast with natural peanut butter (multi-grain or seed bread - just have to check labels for a brand that will give you 2 slices with less than 25 net carbs - add another 2 for the PB and you have a 27 net carb quick breakfast)

Or a toasted fried egg and "real" cheese sandwich - same bread, 1 carb for the fried egg, zero for the cheese - can add "no sugar added ketchup" for 1 more carb - again 27 net carbs

Then either of 2 cereal choices - Bran Flakes or Fiber One original - never "free poured" - measured at 2/3's cup of either with 1/3 cup of 10% half and half cream - both come in at 20 net carbs (15 for the cereal and 5 for the cream (or milk - the % of milk fat doesn't effect the carbs so would still be 5 carb even if it was skim milk)

Add a coffee (0 carbs) with cream, 1 carb and all my breakfast choices come in at "blood sugar safe" less than 28 net carbs and are quick to prepare.

When it comes to sugar substitutes I can't stand the after taste of the artificials.

My "go to" is sold under the brand name "Swerve" which is a (sugar alcohol) with a glycemic index of 0 (zero net carbs - no effect on blood sugar) called Erythritol.

It comes in three (formats) - regular table sugar style, brown sugar and icing sugar so can meet all needs including baking needs and is an exact 1 for 1 substitute so no calculating "how much".

If unavailable their is another natural called Monk Fruit (also zero carb, GI of 0) sold under the brand name "Lakanta" in regular or brown sugar styles or in a combination 1/2 Monk Fruit and 1/2 Erythritol format.

The Erythritol (to me) tastes exactly like normal sugar. The Monk Fruit is not quite a sweet (although it is also considered a 1 for 1 substitute) - the 50/50 version is pretty close to the real stuff.

In particular the Lakanta brown sugar will caramelize really well if you ever want to try making Keto Butter Tarts - just like the real brown sugar bakes...
