What is the most prescribed diabetes medication besides metformin?
Glyburide, Glipizide and Glimeperide, all Sulfonylurea (SU) class drugs, along with Metformin make up the "Top 4" in the US (which probably means most of the western countries as well).
And that makes total sense.
Those 4 have been around, as a pharmaceutical (product) for about 100 years, they all "work well" and they have "always been" generic.
In Ontario a months worth of Glyburide or Metformin runs about 20 bucks (depending on the lab that produces it).
Compare that to a months worth of Ozempic at $1200.
Synjardy ( it has metformin in it and empagliforzin ) , is a wonderful medication. I have been on it for a couple of years. It has helped me lose weight and helps with sugars.
I Watched A Video Where It Said That A High Protein Diet Is Very Good For Ozempic Users And I Guess Diabetics By Extension. Why Is That?
