What Diet Do You Guys Follow?

Do you guys follow a concise diet? Like Adkins, Keto or anything

I follow a concise diet that was put together with assistance of a Diabetic Dietician.

Mine uses aspects from the Atkins or Keto but is not as restrictive as either and it has been tweaked over time.

My diet consists of no more than 1650 total calories a day. The three main sources of calories are Fat, Carbohydrates and Protein. I have targets for each.

I'm on a "low carb, high fat" diet which is loosely defined as a diet in which less than 40% of your calories come from carbs.

In my case I aim for 50% of calories from fat and 25% each from Carbs and Protein.

1 gram of fat is about 10 calories and 1 gram of either Carbs or Protein is about 4 calories. So in my 1650 calorie diet, I aim for 825 calories from fat (82.5 grams a day), and 412.5 calories each from Carbs (103 grams) and Protein (103 grams). And since Carb are the ones that effect blood sugar, I restrict my meals, 4 a day about 4 hours apart, to no more than 35 grams of carbs in any one meal.

Also, some carbs are better than others. Carbs from refined sugar and any natural sugar (fruitcose etc - anything ending in "ose") are the ones that cause "sugar spikes" and often contain no other "good" qualities - I call them "garbage carbs". So if you are going to eat carbs you should choose those that digest slower (so don't cause sugar spikes) - starches are an example (bread, rice, potato and other veggies) or choose ones that have "benefits" - fruit has vitimins/minerals (and fiber which is a carb that is not converted to blood sugar) so better to eat "that sugar" than adding a spoon of regular sugar to your coffee.

That does require "counting or weighing food". It's all done on a spreadsheet. I cut and paste from a master nutrition list that was made up from nutrition labels etc.

It was a bit of work to initially set up, but now it takes a couple of minutes. I plan out "tomorrow's meals", today, usually in the evening. That way I can plug different things into "my menu" to get the best fit.

I was advised by 2 dietitians to NOT go on the keto diet. I basically try to monitor my BS levels and adjust what I eat according to that. Basic rule is to go for something like 6 small meals/day - eat protein when I'm high, eat carbs when I'm getting low and try to exercise in between.

It is all but being active and eating enough to survive . No stress and use medical weed also . Helps with alot of stress . Most of all live . Hugs js
