Has Anyone Had Suicidal Thoughts Because Of All The Frustration And Emotional Roller Coaster Ride That Diabetes Gives Us?

Just tired of it all! 400 dollars a month of meds that I can’t afford. Trillium doesn’t work because apparently we’re not poor enough. Our deductible is high and it makes it not worth it.
Feel like the Doctor and dietician are just keeping me on the back burner.
I haven’t slept in 36 hours cause the neuropathy in my feet is painful.
Just seem to be out of options.

It sounds like you are lacking the support from your Dr. and dietician that "you need".

I can honestly say I have never been depressed because of diabetes (or much of anything else). My wife was diagnosed with early onset Parkinson's 20 years ago at age 39. So while my situation is not ideal, hers "sucks". Maybe that makes me realize that I could be worse off.

We all have different ideas as to how we want to be treated by those treating us. I like a Doc that just gives me the facts, makes recommendations and "jointly" makes a decision with me about my treatment. If they didn't respect my opinion I would be looking for a new one - I personally don't care if they show no compassion for my situation, but want top notch medical advice - my "needs" are different than many. I go to the Queens University family practice - where they train doctors that have recently graduated and are interning to become family doctors. So while I do have (one) that I primarily see, I also see a different doctor when he is not available. Her "bedside" manner is quite different from his and could see why some would prefer one over the other, but I like her - I "prefer" a more no-nonsense doctor that is very straight forward - they're my doctor not my friend. But if you (or anyone else) needs a Doc that will provide more moral support along with treating you, I'm sure you can find one.

My dietician is excellent and hope she never decides to move on to a new area. She works with the choices I have made myself with my diet without preaching about the "food guide" or her own personal views.

You are in the Peterborough area? If so you certainly should have the opportunity to find a different doctor even if you have to travel a little closer to Toronto.

Find a social worker in your area because they have all the resources to direct you to better options. This group is here to help you with moral support and relate to you with their experiences. We have over 4000 members on this team so I would suggest contacting some in Ontario and you may be able to gain new friends either on here or in person. Suicide is not the solution to Diabetes 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

I suffer from mental health so i thought about suicide and death at times but never thought of it due to diabetes.
I do get discourage because of diabetes because i find myself making sacrifices and life style change due to this disease.
however if you find yourself thinking about suicide or death over diabetes, i suggest you add a mental health professional to your care team, someone who can monitor your thoughts on this. and there's always support here in this group. Im always willing to listen

Bryan, I'm thinking of speaking to Good Life to see if they're prepared to start Diabetic classes. If you're interested in chatting with me about this let me know.
Cheers
