Carotid Artery Surgery
A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question 💭

I am 53 and have had t2 for 21 years. I just found out my left carotid artery is 90% blocked and I need surgery. No stent they are just going to open and clean out. I am worried I know either way there is a chance of stroke. Has anyone had this surgery?

If you need it you get it done . I Have refused three times for Neurosurgeon and two time to hand surgeon . I am OK . But I had to get surgery for my fractured leg and second time to remove metal . But I had also minor Skin Surgery . Both got complicated .

I haven’t, but it does sound scary. Have you thought about a second opinion? They do these surgeries all the time. It’s important to have a surgeon you believe in. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
