Hi everyone just wanted some advice my blood sugars are useuly high beetween like 15-18 but just checked and there 6 so that's low for me and I'm feeling very weird hard to explain but I'm due my insulin and tablets soon I was just wondering if I should still take them?.any advice?
Thanks
I am T2 as well, have been for 20 years. Quit eating refined carbs and sugar. Lost quite a bit of weight. Was on every type of med, including both long and short acting insulin. Today only take metformin. Blood sugars still not where I want them, ( 8-10) typically, but it takes a while to get over the insulin resistance. Without meds, still better than when I was taking them. AiC is now down to 7.0 off meds from a high of 10.4 while on meds. Is it because I lost some weight? Eliminated highly refined carbs and sugar? Insulin makes us gain weight. It is also an inflamatory hormone, which can't be good when there is too much in our system, which is what happens when we are insulin resistant. I cannot give advice on whether you should or should not take your meds. I can only tell you what I did. If my glucose levels were low, I would reduce the amount of insulin I injected. Some of the oral meds come with warnings about the risk of low blood glucose. I would forfeit those when sugars were low. Keeping close track and logging your sugar levels will give you a better idea on the reaction you get to taking or not taking your meds. A bit higher blood sugar is much safer than a very low reading.
I can be as high as 20 to 25 as low as 4. My legs r purple my feet r just one pincushon i have really no feeling in them work everyday hard finding money for my meds slef medicate ond day might lose my legs
I'm finding that hard to understand to @A DiabetesTeam Member, I think people in the states Vs people in the UK use a different unit to measure blood sugars.. as mine would be high at 12, but low for me is 6...
I think some people talk about mmol/ L 8 - 12 and some talk about mg/ dl and you don’t want to be much lower than 80.
