Hi, it's been 2 years since I have been diagnosed with type 2. My sugars are still pretty high. Soon after i got diagnosed the neuropathy started. Started slow in my feet. But it has spread to my hands. As well as "bee sting" like pain all over my body.. I'm told as was normal for neuropathy.. but for about a year I have constant spasms all over my body. It rarely stops and when it does its only for a few minutes.. my index and thumb twitches so much i have flinged spoons across the table.. I've… read more
I have experienced this as well as my father. We found that the cause was Metformin. If you are on this maybe cut back a little(safely, if you are able)and see if there is any improvement.
Found this with a google search..see what you think

It's been a year long frustrating experience with my doctor's. I finally convinced my internalist Dr, who gave me a referral to a neurologist. (Which was a 3 month wait) when i finally got seen, took me 30 minutes of explaining my symptoms to an intern to convince her something seemed wrong. Then her boss came in looked at my chart and said it's my neuropathy and basically dismissed anything else i said.. next up was a spinal Dr my mom goes to. He diagnosed me with spinal stenosis. So i asked if my spasms could come from that. He said no. Infact he said only my feet were neuropathy and my hands were carpal tunnel. Which still doesn't explain the "bee sting" pain I get all over. And he said the spasms could just be from the diabetes. My mom has type two and she doesn't get the spasms as I have discribed. So idk what to believe. They aren't painful but they do make me even more fatigued. Some days it's like running a marathon while not doing anything.
I think your doctor should find out why this is happening. Good luck....
I get spasms in my legs at night
