Bit of a public service announcement for the Canuck's in the group.
I posed the question to both my family doctor (yesterday) and my Pharmacist earlier this afternoon (who I give far more weight to then any Doc - after all a Pharmacist is an "expert" in medication of all types).
If you have been following the news we are getting conflicting views from Health Canada, Chief Medical Officers from the various provinces and even the Regional Health officials.

Nan22 We have had 4 doses too. We also both had covid in April; not sure where it came from. The doctor said it was almost like another shot. Have a good day.
I had a Covid about a year ago and was not to sick but did not enjoy the experience. It was worse than the common cold but not bad for me, I recovered in about 2 weeks with no lingering effects. (I did have original shot and the boosters.) I had a Covid booster about 4 months ago along with a pneumonia vaccine and just had my flu shot last week. I am thinking about getting the next version of the Covid booster in late October. My doctor always encourages me to get all the vax available for my… read more
We have had the five shots and the covid company wanted us to take one in June. My doctor advised us to wait until flu shot season for extra protection.
All of us here have either been diagnosed with Diabetes or have someone close to us that have been given the news
So what is the "criteria" that separates us from Joe or Jane SugerEater?
Currently it is simply having an A1C, above 6.5% (47.5 mmol's in the IFCC scale) "twice in a row" measured 90 days apart
That's it, that's all - that "test" is all that is required for the Doc to determine "You have Diabetes"
No matter what you do after that, no matter how you control your blood sugar - no… read more

According to data demographics in the USA.
We have been told that the diabetes incidence of the general population of the USA is almost 12%
Diabetes is much more common in the 65+ age group than we were led to believe.
29.2% of all adults 65 are diabetic.
By age 75 it is almost 35% diabetic.
So as diagnosed with diabetes, we are not alone. We are almost 1 in every 3, 65 year olds as diabetic.
In my church, there are 11 of us 65 +. All but 3 are diabetic

No need to be sorry JW
There seems to be a great misconception out there that the "treatment used" is how the Type of Diabetes is determined
Insulin is a treatment for Diabetics, ALL Diabetics IF they NEED it
Type 1 Diabetics have an auto-immune disease that "within days" destroys their own ability to produce insulin - without insulin they will die within a week or two
They (Type 1's) need insulin from minute one of diagnosis and currently there is not other treatment to help keep them alive

Memory Loss
Difficulty with problem-solving
Confusion/thinking problems; and,
Problems with language usage
The causes of each are quite different
Alzheimer’s is mostly due to aging and changes in brain chemistry – there is little we can do about getting old
Diabetics are at increased risk of developing Alzheimer’s (38% more likely then Joe/Jane average) however, it is Diabetes Dementia that is more likely to set in

In addition with good blood glucose readings I'd suggest taking ginkgo biloba which may help with circulation of blood to the brain but NOT as a substitute for good blood glucose control.
oh...and I had skin conditions pop up after covid vaccine too.....
I just got my third covid vaccine (booster) on September 9, 2021. Ever since my blood sugar goes up more every day. Today is 14 days since the vacc and my sugar is very high 200-304. It's never like this but I made notes after the other two vaccs which were in March and April and both the vaccines did the same thing to me. Has any of this happened with any of you?
I didn't have any side effects because I didn't take the vaccine

Remission is now a consensus definition that states its a condition where the A1C of a diagnosed Type 2 Diabetic is below 6.5% (48 mmol/mol in the metric A1C scale) for minimally 90 days "without the use of any anti-diabetic medications"
To remain in remission you must maintain a sub-6.5% A1C, without medication, on each successive A1C test
What that does NOT mean is that you have cured it, rolled back to normal, can go out and eat pizza chased with coke or that if you don't slip one tiny… read more
