I have recently been placed on insulin to go with my other diabetic medication (metformin, and repaglinide) I have not had one day where I have felt well, he nausea is always overwhelming, and the dizziness as well as some other feelings I can't explain. Is this normal? When I was in the hospital a few years back they gave me insulin and my blood sugar shot higher up than what it was and I became violently ill. My Endo says thats it was given to me incorrectly. Yet I am having a similar reaction… read more
@A DiabetesTeam Member Insulin is a natural hormon that a healthy human bkdy makes in its own or any mamal for that matter. Only difference between the bichemical version and what your body makes is it costs nothing for the one your body makes vs the outrageous cost of the biosimilor version. There is also no set line of when insulin is inroduced for some endos they use it immediately instead of pills other wait until complications set in before using it or wait until you request it. Insulin isnt the bad guy in any way shape or form, sometimes the body just needs that extra kick to help it along.
I thought T2 .. U needed to graduate fr 4 or 5 daily meds to low dose Insulin. Too much insulin will cause organ damage. I'm on 2000 mg of Metformin & 300 mg - Invokana. The Invokana has worked well enough I'm quitting - Trajenta & Glicyzide. Diet change .. Social enviro change - exercise does work. Last summer my BG ran. At 25/27. Today my average BG is btween 4.5 & 7.3 Check ur options. Insulin is supposed to be a last resource
You may be taking too much, call your doctor and let them know so they can make adjustments so you feel better; it sounds like you are having lows.
The reason it's the practice of medicine is because they practice on US! But I have told my endo everything and she says Insulin doesn't do that , she feels it's related to stress at work and suggested contacting a therapist, which I did and I am still not feeling well, sugars still fluctuating, it's ridiculous. My GP said if I don't get control of the diabetes I would go blind, lose a leg and end up with heart disease, It's serious, and when I ask for help with work, meaning notes and and such he balks! So in one breath it's serious and I could die, and in the next it's not that serious make up your effin mind! Some Doctors have zero bedside manner!
I am a type 2,,at least diag as one 26yrs ago. I have gone from pills to insulin and pills. Now I have an insulin pump and a glucose control monitor. That thing just adds stress to me as I hear it go off when I am getting high sugar. Stress is something we do not need. I am 66 yrs old and this past 3 months have been having a hell of a time trying to get mine back under control. So in answer to your question , we are all test rats. No one knows our body better than us. Keep in touch with your endo as often as u r sick and let them help u figure it out
