Members shared countless practical strategies for nighttime snacking with diabetes, with the most common advice being to reach for vegetables like celery or carrots paired with peanut butter or hummus, a small handful of unsalted nuts, or low-sugar snacks like plain Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, or air-popped popcorn. Several members emphasized the importance of checking blood sugar before and after snacking, avoiding high-carb or high-sugar options like bananas, grapes, dried fruit, or crackers, and choosing protein-rich bedtime snacks to help stabilize overnight glucose levels and prevent morning spikes. A recurring theme was the challenge of breaking old nighttime eating habits balanced with the need for a small, strategic snack to prevent dangerous lows during sleep, with many finding success through trial and error and learning what works uniquely for their bodies.

my night snack consist of a bowl of cereal, puffed wheat or cherrios, or a toast with pb. I do not know why but I feel I need to eat before going to bed, I wish I could do without , as I am sure that is why my sugar is higher in the morning than any other time in the day.

Well if your BS are in normal range.I have a SF jello or a small glass of milk 1% or two celery stalks with PB and water...try to stay away from fruits with sugar like bannanas or oranages,. 🍉 if must have fruit keep it berries may 4 to 5. I make me a mini chessecake muffins...no coffee with cream if you need coffee add heavy whipping cream no carbs will not spike BS or just plain old BLK cup of joe.I hope these will help.
But please check BS...
