Is there anywhere I can access a list of fruits and their sugar content? e.g. what is good and bad for a type 2 diabetic (my husband age 70) to eat and how much fruit per day is recommended?
Anyrl fruit is goos for you nun are forbidden it is a matter of figuring iut which ones spike you faster then others also most fruit should be paired with a protein.
Fruits are good. Only way heβll find out if any given fruit will rise his blood sugar is to eat it, if it does - choice is either to avoid that fruit or have a smaller portion of it. On same token each diabetic is different, what affects me will no be the same for someone else. Am not sure how much fruit is recommended per day
The glycemic index is what I use. Actually, diabetics should not eat fruits at all because of the high fructose content. Fructose is processes much faster than even table sugar and spikes BG. I miss apples and grapes the most since adopting a LCHF life style.
There are sugars in fruit. The best thing is to good glycemic index and the name of the fruit. Also check sugars before you eat and 2 hours after to see how you respond to fruits. I just stay away from fruits as a general rule.
