Members shared a range of alternative testing sites beyond fingertips, with the forearm being the most commonly mentioned option, though many noted that compatibility depends on the specific meter model and whether it includes an adapter or clear shield for alternate-site testing. Several members offered practical strategies for reducing finger soreness, including rotating between the sides of fingers rather than using the pads, adjusting lancet depth to minimize pain, and giving fingertips periodic breaks when blood sugar levels are stable. A recurring theme was caution around using toes due to infection risk and potential complications, with members emphasizing the importance of consulting a diabetes educator for personalized guidance on safe testing alternatives.

I wouldn't use my toes ... too much risk of infection and losing a foot! Try to decrease the pressure on your lancet so it's easier on your finger. You can also use the sides of the ends of your fingers ... rather than the pads.

I know!! I was told you can use your toes as another sight but have only done it once, for now. I tend to have a "break" when my fingers are bad, miss out one test but only do this if my sugars are good.

I use both sides of the fingers. I choose the side week about. Gives the skin a bit of a rest.
