Members confirmed that flaky scalp is a real experience for some people taking Metformin, with several sharing that they developed severe white flakes and dandruff-like symptoms while on the medication. Many community members described helpful strategies including using dandruff shampoo followed by moisturizing conditioner, taking B12 supplements since Metformin depletes it and can cause dry skin, and applying Gold Bond cream with shea butter to dry areas. A recurring theme was the frustration of side effects being dismissed by doctors, but members encouraged each other to advocate for themselves, try different remedies, and stay hopeful about finding relief.
