Members offered a range of suggestions for finding more affordable Humalog, with several recommending Walmart's generic insulin as a budget option, though one member cautioned that cheaper alternatives like Walmart's $25 insulin may lead to poorer health outcomes in the long run. Many community members described widely varying prices depending on location, insurance, and pharmacy, with costs ranging from $65 with insurance to over $600 without it, and one member noting the Medicare donut hole created a steep $202 cost for just two vials. A recurring theme was the frustration of navigating high insulin prices in the U.S., contrasted with members in other countries who receive insulin through free or low-cost prescription programs.

In an article that appeared in INSULIN NATION entitled "Why Walmart Insulins Aren't the Answer to High Insulin Prices", they conclude their article with the following statement, and I quote: " So, yes, Walmart sells $25.00 insulin. It can save you money today, but it can result in higher costs and poorer health in the long run."
The right insulin is too important to mess with--in my opinion.

I'm on Medicare and it doesn't matter where you by it...$202 for 2 vials at WalMart. Such is the life of being in the doughnut hole.
