If I was to eat bread I would eat Pita Bread only and all I can tell you it has to do with what the base of the bread is made with! Screw the whole wheat and the whole grain and all the rest of them as its big bucks and they don't care about you just the money they make from you and that's the truth! But that's all up to you !

Dark Greens are one of your best as that will even help blood pressure plus many other things. I hated veggies but I had to do something and now I eat them everyday and a salad everyday, egg beaters, coffee, chicken and pork tenderloin. I eat some fish and burger on the grill once every two weeks but no bread at all and I do not miss it after eating it every day all my life. If you eat bread every day and gave it up for even two weeks you will see your numbers go down for sure!

Hi RMBurden, Here is some things you can do and I know they work and anyone that has done it can tell you the same so here we go. Every day when you get up you take your blood pressure and record it in a book with the date and time and then take your blood glucose count and record it in a book with the date and time. Now take your meds. insulin they way the Doctor told you. then make your Diabetic breakfast and watch your portions and carbs. and record that in a book with date and time also. Two hours after check your blood glucose and record it in the book with time and date. This is how you will find what your eating is good or no good for you by your numbers after eating and if you think you are getting a little low have a protein snack that will hold you to lunch, At lunch you check your blood glucose and record it and take your meds. if prescribed and record what you had for lunch. Next you check two hours after lunch to record and if needed do a diabetic snack. At dinnertime you do the same as you did at lunch time then I always check myself before bedtime and record it take my insulin and meds. This should be done every day at the same time or close to it and make your food and drink adjustment until you get what works for you with good numbers. Just because you eat the right food does not mean you can have a lot of it as I go by the rule and you will take weight off without trying. Find something to do or if you work that's fine but stay busy so your brain does not try to trick you as it will and when you fall of the wagon the faster you pick yourself up and get back on the easier it will get and every person is different so the same thing that might work for you might not work for some else and that goes with meds. too. Yes its a fulltime job but no one but yourself can do it as the doctor can talk to you and prescribe all your meds. but you are the only one that can make it happen. When you do after a while you will start to feel better and want to do things. It is all about control and the mind can trick you easy like saying just this time and then it goes on and on until its out of control. You have to learn to be very rigid, in control at all times and the biggest thing is to stay focused as many people will try and say oh just this one time or just a little. After two months if you can do it maybe you can put a small one time one cheat meal a week in but still watch you portion then that is it until the next week same day! I did it and still am and very happy after 25 years and I really research hard and still do. There is a lot of bad info, on diabetes so be careful.
