Learn to depend on your long acting insulin and not so much on the fast acting one would be my advice. I've been on insulin for 8 years.

That could be your New Year's Resolution lose weight. I was a big hefty girl 14 months ago weight at 139 kilos now 80 kilos. the way I did it was cut in half of what I ate for meals and plenty of veggies [7 different types] you can even cut your meals smaller by eating 5 times a day veggies in mind I used to be a what you would call a cupboard thief eater as well as the fridge I used to eat mainly because I was so bored with life and being a diabetic did not help. when you do start dieting ËXERCISING" is the main task of loosing weight I will tell you now it is hard bloody work at the beginning but in the long run your body will get accustomed to it, I started doing Aqua classes 3 times a week and in between times gym work [ground exercise] and then I would walk my dog daily started at 20 mins then 1/2 an hour [they do say 1/2 hour is plenty] but been so fit now I intend to forget that I have walked around an hour and must remember in future I have to get back where I came from in between meals I eat a piece of fruit if I am getting the hunger pains. I take insulin once a day now in the morning and I do not have to see a diabetic doctor or an educator any more because my sugars have been fab and they are so pleased. I now insulin puts the weight on but if you start exercising you will be surprised it will help with weight and also your sugar levels will go down you will be surprised. I have got so much to tell you on how and what can be done with your body but I am running out of room. if you want me to continue with this subject I will be happy to continue on where I left off, another time. I have the same problem, all oral medication makes me sick so my doctor put me on 2 insulins. I did gain weight and don't seem to be able to lose any of it. The only bright spot is that I seem to have reach a plateau that I am not gaining anymore. Obviously I want to lose weight to reduce my need for insulin so it a two headed sword, insulin helps control my sugar but cause more weight I can't seem to lose. Well new year, and I'm going to make myself go to the gym and make changes to my diet. I am hoping to lose weight but even if I don't I will be healthier and I believe my numbers will be better. Love reading all your posts and don't feel so alone.

yes I am afraid that is life I was on 2 different types of insulin when I started and boy did I put on the blubber talked to my doc about my weight and he said it is caused by the insulin I am taking, I asked what can be done about it and all he could say is diet and set me up to see a dietician but I was doing all the right things when it came to food and drinks so she could not help with that. got that way I just a more less gave up with the diet I then I got a wake up call I had to have a full knee replacement and they wanted me to lose at least 7 kiolos or they would not be able to do the op . so that was that I weighed myself one day for the first time in a while [this is before I saw the doc] and I was so flabbergasted on how much I weighed last Oct I was 139 kilos"WOW" well that was that I went on a diet loads and loads of exercise [nearly killed me very hard work] I am a [GYM JUNKIE] now. I now weigh 82 kilos and I feel fantastic don't have to see a Diabetic anymore because my sugar levels are spot on. cost a bit in getting a new wardrobe but worth it. so really if you have the will power and be strong you should be able to tone down a bit. But you don't have to go berserk like I did. Anyway good luck Oh, by the way I still have to take insulin only once in the morning 40 units of Toujao [solar/star]. I would love to give you a bit more in how to lose weight ext ext but I am starting to run out of room.
