Mine is due to an injury also. Tripped on a two level deck, stood with half foot on one deck and walked forward and went flying forwards with shoe flying off and ankle twisted. After swelling started to go down in several weeks, my podiatrist looked at it and diagnosed Charcot foot, and I now have a bump on the inside of my left foot near the arch, which makes my foot look a little crooked. He ordered me an Airboot, which I wore for about 6 weeks, and then my orthotics were made with the new foot shape in mind, and I have more or less forgotten all about it now, unless I look down at my bare foot and see the bump. I can still wear ordinary shoes, but they have to be wide, and are mostly the New Balance or other good support athletic shoes. I also use a walker around the apartment, and a small folding travelscoot for malls and larger stores. However, I have other disabilities such as osteoarthritis in the knee, hips are affected slightly too, and lower spine. I used to just use the cane, but manage much better with the walker, as I am more upright and not leaning to one side, as I did with a cane. I can also move a lot quicker with the walker, it gives me a lot of confidence to get around.

I am on disability already. I have the Arizona brace, special insoles and shoes. Have googled all the sites but find no support groups. I use a cane and a walker for longer excursions. Took a year to get it diagnosed as it is a relatively rare condition

Yes, I have Charcot foot tripped and fell last July didn't show damage until August. Getting fitted for special shoes later this month. Google Charcot foot and there's a fair bit of information especially on NHS sites. My doctor says it should qualify for disabled blue badge, I've yet to explore that.

I was told about having charkot from my podiatrist in 2012 after my arch collapsed in 2014 I had surgery to remove a bone that was going to protrude the bottom of my foot and just last month needed to have it cleaned out and a mass removed because the incision wouldn’t close.
