I have been in Remission since November of 2016

But you need to understand what that actually means

I still have Diabetes. I will always have Diabetes. You can not Cure it or make it Go Away

All you can do is "control it so well that it can't be detected on a standard A1C test"

It doesn't mean you get there then get back to eating Pizza and drinking Coke

It means simply that you do Not use Meds to get your sugar levels down to Normal

You work hard every single minute of every single day to achieve that

I count every calorie and carb that goes in my mouth

I eat very carefully planning every aspect of every meal - what, how much and test both before and after to see what it did to my blood sugar

I read every nutrition label or every nutritional chart for Everything that goes in my mouth. No taking a day off or taking a break because it's the holiday season or because I am out with friends

Yay, I'm in remission. I don't take meds and my A1C has been "non-diabetic" sitting in the 5.4 to 5.6 range for over 7 years - no Test shows I have diabetes

But all I have to do is eat a few donuts and pizza or two and my blood tests will once again say "Diabetic"

How hard to you want to work to stay off meds and "still be diabetic"?

I wanted that pretty much so I did it - just make sure you understand what you are asking about

The most difficult thing you would ever likely have to do for yourself is gaining remission and staying there - it's a ton of work and the ONLY REWARD is being able to brag that your A1C is Normal and you don't take Meds - there is no other benefit

That is unless you count not being effected by Diabetic Complications because if you don't have diabetic sugar levels you don't get diabetic complications

But your day to day life is so restricted that most don't have the drive to do the work needed

You are NEVER going back to some earlier time - you either do the work, take the meds or die young after years of debilitating and painful complications
