Hello to all my diabetic friends. I have had type 2 diabetes for many years now and my biggest issue is trying to get my morning numbers in a good range and I'm so frustrated i only eat breakfast and supper no snacks in between meals i usually have eggs and bacon for breakfast and usually chicken or some other type meat with vegetables for dinner and can not understand how my numbers are up in the mornings like today before eating it was 156 , then the reading before supper is good and like last… read more
Thank you Loraine3 . Do you have any suggestions on things to eat for breakfast?
I remember being told I can have as much coffee and tea as I want. Now I'm reading that caffeine is one of four bad things that affect BG? Any experience or authorities on the subject? What's the latest?
I agree I do not add sweetener to tea or coffee but if my numbers are low I have a frothy coffee, the Nescafe sachets do have some added sugar but these I limit, just a treat.
We mainly drink tea 🫖

I thought I had this figured out-not sure what to think now. When I told my Endo about some lows during my last checkup, he asked to download my meter-and I never heard back from him about it. I've managed to lose 40 pounds and lower both my A1C and blood pressure over the past year. It must be that I have to lower my daily carb intake from… read more

Maybe you should opt for a general checkup.
Diabetes is a syndrome and thus is fiendishly complicated with a myriad of feedback loops that can be long or short in effect.

I am type 2 diabetic on both Insulin and Metformin. I also note that my blood glucoses increases after I have been at gym instead of dropping. This is drinking water only.
I am on Ryzodeg insulin.
Please can you advise me on what to do.
My endo appoint is soon and I am thinking of taking one of these medicines, since the "last leg" of my weight loss efforts is going extremely slow. So far, the only caution I recall hearing, is that since the drugs are so new, no one really knows the long-term effects, like what will happen when someone stops taking them-do they gain the weight back? Since I lost the majority of the weight on my own, I would only want to take the med short term to "finish the job". I plan to ask my Endo about… read more
@DiabetesTeam users... Thanks everyone for the advice, support and info. I think I was considering ways of losing a bunch more weight, in hopes of being able to eat tasty, fried fast food again (full… read more
I am struggling with morning highs and seem to be needing to take much more insulin which I really dont want to do. I go to sleep at night with a certain reading, take insulin Apidra and Lantus and wake up in the morning with the high reading. I have also noticed that the reading does sometimes drop during the course of the night but is high again when I wake up. Also have put on weight. I dont know whether this is a result of wrong eating or whether medication can also stop being as… read more
Most days we will see that question posted up a number of times
There is no SIMPLE Answer
If you are Type 2 you have a Metabolic Disorder so there is no "list" that applies to all or even most of us, but that doesn't mean you don't have somewhere to start
If you are looking for a "basic list" then it's easier to say what you Shouldn't Eat
If you are looking to lower your Blood Sugar DO NOT EAT:
French Fries or any white potato, no white rice, no white pasta, no white bread, no muffins… read more
i regularly eat brown toast-one slice per meal- and can keep my glucose in range. just saying to show we are all different.
I have been battling with high readings for some time now - on average 9 to 13 mmol/L, using a specific branded (well known) glucometer.
No matter what I do, what I eat or don't eat, I cannot get it lower than 8 (if I'm lucky). My average (it links to my phone to keep the stats) is 12 :( Despite living and eating healthy, and using no sugar at all.
I even replaced the meter with another from the same brand, in case the first meter was defective. Same thing - high readings, no matter what.

I had the same problem. Only thing that helped was they took me off the insillin and put me on the oral meds with meraforman
