I saw a CDE right after my initial diagnosis. It was a one day 4 hour session. My county senior center then offered a diabetes education program a few years after initial diagnosis. It was a six week class, about two hours per session, based on the Mayo Clinic model. The program was free for seniors in the area and that was definitely much more informative than the CDE. Thanks @A DiabetesTeam Member It's good to know that help exists. I am prediabetic, but only 2 points away from being technically diabetic, so hopefully I am getting a head start of starts. Of course it would have been better still to have practiced a healthier lifestyle all along. I can check the senior centers near me, that does seem an ideal place to reach diabetics in need of info and guidance.
