Because Of Covid 19 Has Working From Home Or Working Harder And Longer, Affected Your Ability To Keep You Blood Sugars Balanced?
A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have type 2 no insulin. I have been working from home for 8 weeks now. Typically at work I would be moving around the building a great deal. Now I am at home and sit in-front of the small laptop for several hours a day. I live in a small apartment so don't get much walking during the day
I try to get a walk in if the weather cooperates but that doesn't seem to drastically help.
Normally my counts are 6.1 -8.0 (Canadian) now it is all over the place. 11.3 - 21.1

Should I ask my… read more

I'm Type 2, no diabetes meds.

I have been working the entire time, and a number of extra hours as well (work in the supply chain).

Both my fasting sugars (FBS) and my 2 hours post meal (PPG - only check that after my most carb intense meal of the day, so two sticks a day) have stayed at "my normal" - FBS average remains at 5.3 and PPG 6.4 (average) - highest I have measured in the past 4 weeks is 7.7

But to be really fair the epidemic has not really affected my normal routine very much. I still go to work, I still hike in the woods, I still work in my yard/garage, still do the groceries once a week. It has been "mildly inconvenient" when I need something and have to "phone order/curbside pick-up or order on-line" because the process is SLOW.

But I haven't been stressed at all, and as I said, my routine is not upset.

And it probably wouldn't hurt to at least discuss increasing your meds for a bit - you can always walk it back afterwards.

I have talked with my Dr. gotten an updated A1C and small dose med added. Also increased exercise. levels are coming down nicely. Feel so much better and even got a fitbit to remind me if I don't get 250 steps done every 20 minutes. Even if I just walk around my place it is something.
