Im good with not having sweets but the carbs is the hard part because im still in school (college) and live at home still. I was given Steroids for my back after i had the surgery. I am supposed to take insulin before each meal and a diffrent one before bed. Its just hard i know everyones is diffrent. I guess it because my doctor is trying to find the right meds to work for me. I drink water all day probably like half a case of water if not more. My diet im working on and even thought im not doing college feild events for track i still work out when i can. Thanks for all the comments!! It really helps i just fell like its hard to talk to people around me because they always go to the did you take your insulin when i have a bad blood sugar day 🙂

Back surgery... did you have to use cortisone? They can cause a rise in blood sugar even if you are in good shape. Try to learn as much as you can, eat less carbs and that is not only sugar but also bread, pastas, rices. Take control of your blood sugars and let us know how you're doing.

I've had 4 surgeries to my spine, and I have a sweet tooth... UGH!! yes it's really frustrating. There are days I want to throw in the towel, and after almost 20 years, its a struggle. But I take insulin, and I THINK I found the right combo. Then diabetes.. laughs and me and throws a curve ball. I keep in mind how many carbs for me which is 45. But if I go less its ok. I try to work in veggies with my lunch and dinner. If you need to, you can see I dietician, and they can help you find a balance.

I eat a lot of salads and lean meats and vegetables, and nobody on the planet loves sweets more than I do, but I have had to learn to live without them. Every so often I cheat a little and have a few bites of something sweet, but not very often, I find as I get older it's harder to keep my sugar down but I try, believe me it's a never ending battle.
