I Tried To Break Up A Fight Between My 2 Dogs And Got A Bad Bite On My Finger. The Wound Has Healed But After 13 Weeks Is Still Sore.

There are 2 things almost poking through my skin that are very painful. I had it x-rayed and they said it wasn't broken. The doctor put me on an antibiotic just in case it was infected but it's just getting worse. Any idea what it could be?

Thank you Barbara. I have an appointment on the 12th with my doctor. I was afraid I might have to have it opened up but I probably will. I will let you know how it turns out.

You may need the area opened up. If there is an infection in it, it might not have a way to exit. You could even have a dog tooth in there. Who knows. Do you have a wound care center nearby? My podiatrist sees me at our wound care. The nurses are very knowledgable and have all the dressing supplies there. Plastic Surgery deals with wounds, and Infectious Disease deals with wounds.
I think you need to get it relooked at. A Hand Specialist sounds like a good place too but you will probably have to get a referral from your Dr.
Let us know how you are doing.

No...just my doctor. I didn't have them until after the bite. I do have arthritis but this is different. It was a very deep bite and I got 2 little pieces of bone out. I'm wondering if it damaged a nerve because if I try to bend that finger it just jumps up and down. It doesn't show up very well in the picture but it was taken a few days after the bite.

I have little knobs on my knuckles from arthritis and they can be painful at times. And they are very obvious to me. Have you been to a hand specialist?
