When Numbers Are High, Should You Do Exercise To Bring Them Down?
A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have read that if your sugar numbers are very high you should drink water and start walking. My concern is that i check my numbers first thing in the morning, I go outside to mow the lawn, I am out there for maybe an hour and when I recheck them after about 20 minutes of rest the numbers are higher than when I started. Is this normal for a person with type 2

When you exercise, your muscles use up the sugars in your cells. That's how they get their fuel so to speak. So your body creates a little more to compensate for it. That's why your levels go up some. I read that in a book on type 2 diabetes from my local public library. If you're unsure, go do a little research. That's how I've been learning. Don't be afraid to ask your diabetic health team questions either. That's why they're there. 😊

My sugar is always high after exercise! I usually after my breakfast. However, my Hbc is within range.

It's my understanding that numbers will be high if you exercise as the body has no energy to burn. So try having a low card meal before the exercise, that should help your numbers. Also, if your sugars are over 250 you don't want to exercise as this can cause ketones. https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/...
