I just found out that my A1C is on an upward climb no matter what I seem to do regarding meals. Also I was told there are a small amount of proteins in my urine. I currently take metformin and also take Gliclazide at lunch and dinner. I use Lantus insulin at bedtime. Any advice??
I'm not sure. I'm not a doctor but have you tried the holistic approach to helping your diabetes go away such as exercise, not eating non fibrous/processed carbs and taken the high sugary sweets out of your diet....truly? Even the spaghetti with meatballs you may have grown up on or that sweet roll for breakfast or at the office. I'm not saying you are not being diligent but try starting with a food diary. Write down every morsel that comes across your mouth. That might be a start. And one more thing, don't eat after 6pm. I stopped and it brought my sugar down. If I get super hungry, or at least think I am, I will eat a green apple.
I agree...total overuse. So...if type 2 diabletes is insulin resistance, which means we produce insulin but the body can't utilize it, what good will injecting more insulin that the body can't utilize? Type 2 is not really that hard to reverse as long as you're very dilligent in your diet and willing give up some things.
Can you qualify; why you will not use insulin? I am genuinely interested and not critical at all. I also believe there is an overuse of insulin and insulin derivatives.
I'm not going on it for no matter what happens I'll just do without I'm not going on insulin
I am on Humulin R u500, and have never seen or heard of anyone else using it. I would not recommend it right away. I would first use Lantus (long lasting insulin), along with short lasting at meal times, like Humalog. You doctor should be able to give you a sliding scale of how much to use based on blood sugar levels.
