Should I continue to take metformin considering some doctors has stopped prescribing it, and because I have been taking it for years.

I take for primary diagnosis of type 2 diabetes and secondary diagnosis of PCOS.

I have heard Metformin has other benefits - like reducing risks of cancers. My dr doesn’t like to prescribe other meds (at least he hasn’t for me even though I have asked).
