You must have a C Peptide blood test , it must be at or below .5 . The C peptide test check to see if your pancris is making insulin.
For Medicare, it depends on how many times a day you test and how many injections you need each day
I think it depends on the Doctor or health care provider. Kaiser is California usually will only allow type 1 to have pump and dexcom.
I am type 2 and inject four times a day.
@A DiabetesTeam Member The pump is an insulin delivery system that attaches to the body via a catheter and stays attached 24x7. It is mostly used by type 1 diabetics or type 2 diabetics with severely degraded pancreas functionality, the people that need to dose at every meal.
Since most type 2 diabetics do not use insulin, the pump is useless to them. Of the t2 diabetics that use insulin, many only do a single dose per day it does not make sense to have a pump attached via a catheter all day for a single injection.
